In the 1920s till the 1950s Eastern Cape was the hub for jazz in South Africa. From Duncan Village in East London all the way to “Little Jazz City”as Queenstown was known was a musical buzz with many genres. From the legacies of the Duncan Village residents Tete Mbambisa, Johnny Dyani and Pinise Saul to the popular bands such as William Mbali’s Big Four and the Matshikiza family, Eastern Cape has a unique musical contribution.
