Music Program Imvuselelo 2024 showcases Eastern Cape Jazz Heritage.  

The annual Germany South Africa provides co-operation and exchange for skills transfer and collaboration in music, performance and composition. Events take place in 2024 from 6-7th of December Eastern Cape Steve Biko Centre. These events provide numerous opportunities for the emerging musicians from writing, to photography, composition, instrumentation and harmony. New musical arrangements are developed with musicians during this new program to perform in public.

The December collaborative workshops and performances are a commemoration of the founding of the Government of National Unity and are performed under the title of IMVUSELELO and celebrate the richness of the Eastern Cape. Workshops will be implemented together with the workbooks and other activities with local musicians including Retsi Pule Siphokazi Ngqokolo-Bili, Chester Summerton, Nombasa Maqoqo, and Sinethemba Bili, including photographer Vuyo Giba and Struan Douglas author of the Book Series Story of South African Jazz.

The budget for the annual music program is target at R1-5m with a 25% growth rate

Depending on the amount and availability of funds, the 2025 activities should start in July with rehearsals and digital activations. The workbooks are available to music education and library services at R100 each.

Programs throughout the year are made possible through the support of the Department for Arts, Culture and Heritage, National Arts Council, Business Arts South Africa, Presidential Employment Stimulis, National Film and Video Foundation, Eastern Cape Development Corporation, German Embassy of South Africa. the 2025 events are geared towards the 30 years celebration of the partnership cooperation between Lower-Saxony and Eastern Cape, South Africa.
