Peggy Nomfundo Luswazi was born in Kokstad South Africa as daughter of a pastors family and grew up in Anglican Mission Stations. After her degree at Fort Hare she worked as a teacher in secondary and high schools before she came to study psychology at the university of cologne and later West Berlin. She lectured at the institute for intercultural Education, free university and also at the third world unit of the technical university in West Berlin.

Professor Luswazi is one of the driving forces behind the return of Jazz Against Apartheid to Eastern Cape. Her enthusiasm and support stems from direct interaction with the project and its founders during the many active years of study and work in Berlin, at the peak of the anti-apartheid struggle. As a rural and social development practitioner, she has championed the use of “Nachwuchsforderung” - the conscious policy and practice of transferring societal values, knowledge and skills to the next generation - as a core focus for Jazz Against Apartheid in the Eastern Cape.
She is an activist for social justice with passion for education, transformation and development that co- founded, among others, the German Anti-Apartheid Movement. Her activities within the Women's Movement in Germany included establishment of NOZIZWE, a multicultural women's educational consultancy which was supported by the Women's Desk of West Berlin's municipality .She also collaborated with Prof Dagmar Schultz, founder of the first Women's Publishing House in Europe, the Orlanda Women's Publishing House as they translated to German and publicised anti-apartheid works by women such as Ellen Khuzwayo, Bessie Head and Nadine Gordimer.
Professor Luswazi obtained her qualification from the University of Fort Hare and Walter Sisulu University. She was first women Registrar and founded and directed a Centre For Rural Development at WSU eventually being appointed to be part of a commission that produced a transformatory EC DEVELOPMENT PLAN.
She has initiated numerous innovative cultural exchanges with Germany, including arranging for UNITRA CHOIR to gain special training during the international Richard Wagner music Festival in Bayreuth Germany, an exposure that led to establishment of an archive of African music.
Prof Luswazi She is currently part of a team of EC professionals who are spearheading a community based Movement ,ILIMA LABANTU for Reconstruction and Development of the EC Province.
Through her historical connection to JAA in Germany, Prof Luswazi has retained
continuous contact and support with JAA founders in Frankfurt, Jurgen Leinhos and Elisabeth Ehrhorn.

She is intending on making JAA a permanent feature of the Eastern Cape Jazz landscape and building the foundation for a cultural exchange that will have the long-term benefit of sending young South Africans for music education to Germany.
