Qhawekazi is an ethnomusicologist, researcher, musician, writer, and teacher, originally from East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her research, teaching, and performance interests lie in the presentation of indigenous knowledge systems and jazz music.
She is currently completing her Masters Degree in Ethnomusicology through the International Library of African Music at Rhodes University, as a member of the jazz heritage project titled “Research on the neo-traditional jazz heritage of the Eastern Cape from a developmental perspective.”
