Brief info

I was born and raised in the township of Mdantsane.I started playing music at a very early age at The Salvation Army Brass Band in 2007.On the year 2000 I joined the Field Band Foundation under the direction of Thoko Mlonyeni and Tally Goduka. We competed nationally and won trophiesfor the Best Creative and Best Brass Ensemble. While I was at the FBF I won several awards for Best Brass Player nationally from the year of 2004 to 2007.

In 2008 I enrolled to University of KwaZulu Natal for Jazz trumpet. Same year I decided to go and audition for a classical trumpet at the Durban Music School. I in as first trumpet on a second seat for two years. On my second year in Varsity I once again went in to play for university Big Band as a first trumpeter. On the year 2009 until 2011 I was selected as a young trumpeter for the National Youth Band under the conductorship of FeyaFaku, Mike Campbell and Mccoy Mrubata, we went to play at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Johannesburg and Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. On my final year the university, Doctor Neil Gonsalves formed a university sextet for a Cultural Exchange programme and I was selected to be the part of the Exchange as a composer and trumpeter. The band went to Virginia Richmond, United States of America from September 2012 and March 2013.We recorded an album called Leao of Faithand the album featured the Durban guitar maestro Madala Kunene and Plunky Branch the great soulful saxophone from Richmond. Right after the Cultural Exchange programme I completed my Bachelors Degree. I graduated with Bachelor of Practical Music.

When my varsity day were over I went home. On 2014 I was appointed as a Jazz teacher at the Stirling High School and Brass Tutor together with the Band Co-Ordinator at the Field Band Foundation. Later that year I recorded with NduduzoMakhathini an album called Mother Tongue and Sketches of Tomorrow. We played and launched the albums at the Orbit Home of Jazz in Johannesburg ,Bramfontein.2016 I had an opportunity to play and tour Kenya with Ms Siya Makuzeni, Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz. I recorded an album called Out of This World. The musicians I recorded and played with are Tally Goduka, Lulama Gaulana, Sazi Dlamini, Nduduzo Makhathini, Neil Gonsalves, Siya Makuzeni the late Sisa Sopazi, Afrika Mkhize Big Band,Tutu Puone Tribute Big Band, James Morrison Big Band, Nomfundo Xaluva, Tete Mbambisa.
